Jeffrey Hoff
Growing up in North Dakota has allowed Jeff to research and study many of my favorite wildlife subjects that I enjoy painting. When I started painting wildlife, the first subjects I focused on were ducks. So being in the central flyway of many waterfowl species allowed me to observe my subjects firsthand. Being close to neighboring Montana allowed Jeff even more opportunities to paint the subjects he loves.
Jeff enjoys painting everything from grizzly bear to songbirds. Jeff believes that the experience of being able to observe wildlife in their natural habitat helps so much in allowing the artist to gain the needed knowledge of the subject you are trying to paint. Which then will carry over into the painting.
Jeff’s style of painting is realism. “Every artist has their own distinct style that typically comes out the more you paint and develops with experience. I’ve always loved painting detail so it’s something that I tend to always gravitate to.”
Jeff paints with both acrylics and oils. “It all kind of depends on what I'm painting and what I feel like at the time I start a new piece. For the most part, acrylics are my medium of choice. They dry fast and allow me to continue working on a painting without any delays.”
Jeff's love for wildlife and nature are the two driving forces that continue to inspire and push him to follow his passion to paint.
